Description
Monica Peñas, an energetic and passionate young winemaker, leapt at the chance to use grapes from her husband’s family vineyards. These are in the more remote, western area of the Ribera del Duero region, around the town of Pesquera de Duero. Here, the Duero valley is much narrower, allowing vineyards to be planted on the valley slopes, at altitudes around 800 to 900 metres.

Currently working in rented winery space, Monica makes two, small cuvee wines that shine with vibrancy and expression. Growing up in this region she knows how to eke out the subtleties of the grape and its terroir. Monica believes you will find there is no irony in the name! A new chapter is being written in this region, in the shape of her new winery!
Tasting notes
Red fruit and wild fruit aromas, spicy due to the time in oak. The palate has a good fruit dark cherry character a hint of toasty oak , super soft,  long and round on the finish. A big hug of a wine!
Food match
Delicious with lamb and pork, chorizo, black pudding, Mexican dishes and cheese such as Manchego.
